Mental health Awareness Week 2020: One quote at a time <3

Updated: May 25, 2020

Happy mental health awareness week to all those that read my blog! Thought I would share some positive well being tips. Remember ITS OKAY TO BE CHIPPED!

5 Steps to Well being I recommend

1) Give to other people

Other people love to receive gift and things that make them smile. This also as a result will make you fell better. One quote at at time has really helped me do that in this time.

One quote at a time

For mental health awareness week I partnered up with my beautiful friend Katy as she has started a little charity business. It is called One Quote at a Time. This money from this business all goes to invisiyouth ( http://www.invisiyouthcharity.com/donate). This is all about raising money for invisible illnesses.

The product you get is an amazing handwritten letter with a unique quote post card. The letter is written on general topics of difficult times , self care and currently COVID 19. This is an amazing thing to send out to your friends in lock-down to make them smile. Even after lock-down this will be a lovely service as we don't often have the time to sit down and write handwritten letter these days. Also as I struggle with dyslexia writing isn't by strong suite, therefore its nice personally for me to know my friends are going to get a well written letter than any letter I could write.

The product choice I went for was the pick mix option. where you get a few letters and quotes to chose to give to who you think is right makes it a little more personal from you.

2) Media alert

Social media isn't real. I spend far too much of my time comparing myself to people online wishing I looked like them, had clear skin like them, etc. It's not real. Everyone has days when they don't want to share things and want to hide away from the world. What you see on friends and random Instagram pages aren't always the 100% truth. It's not that they are lying its just their highlights. Everyone has their good angle, filters and good hair and skin days to post out their pictures. therefore watch that scrolling habit i know we all get into. Trust me I am still working on this. I have a blog post coming soon about my difficulties with my skin and appearance so stay on look out for that :).

3) Laugh and smile

Laughing and smile seem like such a simple thing. But I can't tell you how much a good laugh improves my day for hours. I love going for a drive with my other half on the weekend and scream (singing) along to songs together until we burst out laughing at each other. Those simple moments of joy that you would miss if you don't take the time to really take them in for what they are. Write them down in notes on your phone if you think you are going to forget them one day.

Right now what is making me smile is seeing communities coming together with the rainbows in their window for the NHS and the Thursday night NHS claps. People asking how are you and actually meaning it not wanting just a quick answer. I miss laughing and smiling with my friends in a pub garden but I know I will have that again soon. For now seeing their amazing smiles on face time is enough.

4) Pets (especially dogs)

Well my dog ! My dog Hailie bring me so much joy. Honestly having a pet that loves you and asks for nothing but food and attention is amazing. I truly believe that dogs improve your mental health massively. They get you outside walking when maybe you feel you want to stay in. They make you smile when they come to you for a cuddle. They are just the best and I'd be lost without my fluffy little friend.

5) Hobbies and passions

I struggled to find my hobbies for many years I was always focused on my academic studies putting far too much pressure on myself. I delete all my hobbies out my life as I saw them as a distraction from the important stuff. Then I realised after finishing uni that I had been stupid. Hobbies keep you happy and positive ,giving you that well deserve break from day to day life. This is why I am really glad that I have kicked this hobby of blogging and photography.

One thing have had behind me and the fuelled me is my passion for wanting to support people. I want to improve people lives even if that is in just a small way.

Please if you are struggling with Mental health contact your GP and get advice. Its okay to ask for support.
